Partnership ads: letting brands boost you

The short version

Brands can run ads from your handle, but only with your permission, which you can revoke any time.

What it means for you

Content-level permission covers one post, story or reel. You grant it by switching on 'Allow brand partner to boost' on a labeled post, or by sharing a partnership ad code. A code works on any post, even one that doesn't tag the brand.

Account-level permission is broader. The brand can make ads from your handle without a post, use any post that tags them, and use your custom audience. Brands can hide comments on the ad. You can unhide them.

Live video partnership ads became available on Instagram on September 29, 2026.

✓ Do

  • Price account-level permission higher. It gives the brand much more.
  • Put permission terms and end dates in your contract.

✕ Don't

  • Grant account-level access for a one-post deal.
