What it means for you

These formats are banned from earning on both Facebook and Instagram no matter how many views they get.

  1. Static video one still image with little or no motion.Static video example: a flower in a vase stays identical across every frame of the video timeline.
  2. Static image poll a still image asking people to react to vote.Static image poll example: a still cats-or-dogs picture asks viewers to vote with a heart or thumbs-up reaction.
  3. Slideshow mostly still images played one after another.Slideshow example: separate still pictures of mountains, a beach and a forest play one after another.
  4. Looping video the same clip repeated, including GIFs, at any length.Looping video example: the same short bouncing-ball clip appears repeatedly on a timeline, connected by repeat arrows.
  5. Text montage mostly images with text laid over them.Text montage example: landscape images are mostly covered by large motivational words across three successive frames.
  6. Embedded ads pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll or banner ads you baked into the video.Embedded ads example: a Buy Now banner is inside a creator's mug video, with an advertising segment edited into the video timeline.

✓ Do

  • Film real motion: you on camera, b-roll, screen recordings, demos.
  • Turn quote and tip content into talking-head videos or carousels you don't plan to monetize.

✕ Don't

  • Post a 'react with ❤️ or 😂' image poll.
  • Loop a 3-second clip to stretch watch time.
  • Insert your own sponsor ad breaks where Meta places ads.
